Information We Collect

To provide our services, we collect the following types of information:

• Account Information: When you create an account via email/password or Google Sign-In, we collect your email address, name (if provided by Google), and a unique User ID. This process is managed by Google Firebase Authentication.
• User-Generated Content: We store all the content you create and save within the app, including your jokes, bits, set lists (text), and audio recordings (files). This data is stored on Google Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage and is associated with your User ID to enable cloud synchronization.
• Permissions Data: The app requests access to your device's microphone. This permission is used only when you actively choose to record audio within the app. We do not access your microphone at any other time.

How We Use Your Information

Your information is used for the following purposes:

• To create and manage your user account.
• To provide the core functionality of the app, including saving, retrieving, and syncing your content.
• To secure your data and prevent unauthorized access.
• To improve the application and troubleshoot issues.

Third-Party Services

We use Google Firebase as our backend platform. This includes Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage. These services are essential for the app's functionality. Google's own privacy policy governs their data collection. You can review it here: Google Privacy Policy.

Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data as long as your account is active. You are in full control of your data and can delete your account at any time.

• How to Delete: You can initiate account deletion from the Settings popup within the app by tapping the "Delete Account" button.
• What Happens: Upon confirming deletion, all of your personal data will be permanently removed. This includes your user record in Firebase Authentication, your user document in Cloud Firestore, and all associated files (including audio recordings) in Firebase Storage. This action cannot be undone.

Children's Privacy

Joke Book is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
